Gary Speed
Ten years since Gary Speed took his own life.

If anyone has any doubts that this is not a mental illness issue, spend some time checking out his wife.

Nearly two years since Eddie B done the same.

R.I.P. Gary and Eddie B.

I remember watching Football Focus on the Saturday and then finding out about it when his poor mate Bryn Law revealed it on Sky Sports on the Sunday. Couldn't believe it along with everyone else.

Wasn’t he connected to the football child abuse cases from back in the day? I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to kill himself as that is a terrible thing to live with and not be able to tell anyone about.

Agreed, remember hearing it on the wireless that Sunday morning. I'd watched football focus the day before and that made it seem all the more shocking as Speed seemed full of positivity about the future. But that's mental illness for you, some people can hide the inner turmoil they are going through.

We've lost a few on here and there's many more who have suffered with mental illness. Keep talking.

Is it really 10 years ago? It was a shock to hear the news and one of those you remember where you were moments . I was driving up to Birmingham Airport at the time. Such a tragic waste of life.

RIP Gary Speed

What you take away from her comments is a reminder of the total devastation that you leave behind. Speed passed his own problems onto, and turned the world' upside down, of at least 5 other people who didn't deserve it or see it coming. As she said she still hasn't forgiven him. Just a tragic story with no positives whatsoever. Like many others I remember it well and was totally stunned.

Fwiw, the coroner report concluded that they couldn't say for sure he meant to kill himself, and it was possible because he was intoxicated at the time it could have been a cry for help and he fell asleep. Unlikely though.
